Alright Boardsies looking for some advice.

Have my heart set on a DS5 in Dsport trim.

Not neccesarily a choice between just these 2 but a handy comparison as same colour same garage.

I'm trying to decide between this Hybrid and this Diesel

    Hybrid - 2013 | 50k Miles | €190 Road Tax | 80MPG (alleged) | €17,300 incl VRT

    Diesel - 2012 | 25k Miles | €280 Road Tax | 55MPG (alleged) | €15,100 incl VRT

I love the idea of the hybrid and the trim is savage IMO.
The MPG quoted is not achievable real world of course but should be higher than the diesel (correct me if I'm wrong)

Essentialy is it worth €2k for the trim ( which I might get caught extra for with VRT) and the extra mpg / lower tax over potential hybrid issues, battery etc.

I've read all the reviews regarding ride quality etc that's not the issue here. Which is a better buy?

Initial budget was 15k but I have room to stretch a little.

I was looking at one last year, both the diesel hybrid and the diesel.
The hybrid will be closer to 200 bhp when you add the electric motor but.. it's a much heavier car.
Reviews were saying that the hybrid was pretty pointless cause overall the power being put down and real world mpg was the same as the normal diesel.
So I'd go for the regular diesel.

Would the VRT on the hybrid not be much lower like for like, is the OMSP a lot higher on the hybrid?

Approx vrt on the normal diesel 3200e.
    On the hybrid it's 2200e.
Not bad with 1k difference and slightly cheaper tax.

The PSA diesel engine + electric motor hybrid is supposed to be pants if reviews are to be believed.

I bought a DS5 with the 2.0hdi engine last year.
I would consider myself an economical driver. Expect about 47mpg, maybe 50 if you really nurse it with a few long journeys thrown in.

I'd consider the normal 160 model but below are the owners reviews of the hybrid. You'll lose boot space to the batteries.

Yeah, I've read those. Not much going in the boot anyway. We have 7 seater MPV for kids & travelling.

I'll make my own mind up as I've put a deposit down to hold the hybrid.

This is my favourite review on that link.

It's like someone was paid to write a bad review who had never seen a car before.
This was the worse car I have ever driven. This is why, firstly it was told that it did 70mpg which it clearly did not, the batteries only lasted a couple of mins and it was never fully charged up. It most probably would have done more Mpg without the batteries as it weighted it down. There was not leg room in the back and you lost half the room in the boot due to the batteries. What they don't tell you also is it costs £4,000 for new batteries every four years. It also broke down four times in three years and was recalled due to a fault that could have caused a major problem. What it also amazing is that the car has a built in system which automatically shuts the car down and stops it working if it needs a service. This did it to me 20 miles after it was due and left me stranded by the side of the road. Lucky it was close to my house and not on the m25. Citreon then took it too their garage and charged me for a service....I didn't ask them to do this either. To drive the car is very comfortable and the leather seats are great, but you have a dial in the middle console which you have to keep changing to change the modes. This is very dangerous as you need to look down to do this while you are driving which is not a good idea. The car also bleeps everytime you do something wrong and gives you three seconds to do it like put the hand brake on and this is very agrovating. Also it's hard to tell if the car is running or not as it starts in battery mode and your can easily run people over as they do not hear you coming in battery mode. It also like driving a milk float in battery mode and has no acceleration, but in sports mode it goes like a rocket. 4x4 is a joke as it gets stuck if you park on a field as the car is so low to the ground so it's pointless having it. The glass roof is cool but can easily brake or chip. It also dropped in price really dramatically, I lose £16k in the first year and also Citreon really ripped me off with the car.Overall it's a car which I would not recommend to anyone unless I really did not like them.

I bought a Ds5 hybrid last year, dsport too. Head turner of a car, get asked questions about it a lot. Comfy drive but not very sporty, if you try push it hard the auto gearbox lets it rev way too high. Fuel economy about 6l/100, close to 50mpg, diesel is probably better.

But electric engine is smooth and cool to show off.
Hybrid has 4 wheel drive option
Hybrid has much better rear suspension (due to engine driving back wheels, it's needed). Common complaint in diesel is its ride.

Edit : here's my thread on me buying it. It's a bit rambly but does have some good info.
