Have a 523i about a year now and i am coming up to my next NCT.
I have the abs & traction light on and i know this is a fail
I replaced the drivers side sensor after i got a guy to read the codes.
No luck dash lights light still on.

My choice is to give up on the car as the thought of pumping money into to try and fix this issue and then more and more is worrying me

I like the car and i think it could be last 523i left on road at this stage.

    Any ideas?

Anyone with a bmw reader to clear the codes ?

    Thanks guys

    R

Check the abs sensor rings. It could be badly pitted.

See the black inner ring part. Any imperfections would trigger an abs fault.

    yes it does,

it could also be the module, sometimes they fail. BBA Remanufacturing in the UK repair them and give a lifetime guarantee.

Modules are cheap. I got a more expensive 002 for €60 for mine, 10 minutes of coding and all was perfect again. 001 Modules are plentiful!

what software is needed to code the module ?

You need BMWs INPA or the like. Most good indy mechanics should have a means to!

As long as the units match they should.

Airbag Light could just be the passenger seat occupancy sensor, about €5 for a resistor if it is. Value wise, not much, better off breaking it!
