    Hi all

Looking for some advice.. timing belt went on my ford cmax so looking for a new motor.

Have upto 4k to spend.. has to be a diesel and as high up the years as possible in a low tax band preferably..

Size don't really matter but has to be 4 or 5 door.. was looking at an insignia, bravo and a mondeo among others?

Any suggestions here from anybody or cars thy think be decent?

Late reg mk1 octavia can be got up to 09. 100bhp axr 1.9tdi engines so reliable and pretty old School, over all very easy fix if anything does go wrong. Cheap tax.
And they come in well under budget of you can find one.

They are bland but they do the job of work horse better than pretty much any other cheap tax diesel.

I agree with this.. those mark.1 octavias that were produced up.to 09 or 10 are an excellent car.. they go forever .. I've had two petrol mark 1 and a diesal mark 1 and I can vouch for them
