So I recently moved to Cork in Nov 2015 with my partner and currently I'm 38 weeks pregnant expecting a our first baby girl.
I'm 19 years old and from Scotland, Edinburgh.
I have no friends and don't know anyone which over the year of being here as caused me to become slightly isolated and depressed, especially seeing all my old friends back home going out and having fun.
I was wondering if there's anyone in the same boat interested in talking/meeting and possibly making friends? I sound so lonely and sad I know lol, I just really need to meet new people and don't know where to begin.

Is there a teen parent support programme near you? Or any organisations for young mums? They are a great place for people to make new friends, and they usually do courses and stuff too. Other than that, look up local parent and toddler groups or breastfeeding groups (if you plan to breastfeed). They are sometimes in community centres or family resource centres so there may be one near you.

If you're planning on breastfeeding - Cuidiu and La Leche League meetings are great for getting in touch with other mums. Look into other baby classes and groups too - baby massage, mum and baby postnatal yoga, stay and play sessions etc.

    Hi OP

I'll leave your thread here for now but it might be better suited to the parenting OR Cork City forums.

Let me know which you think would suit your needs best and I'll move it.

If you are interested, our pregnancy forum has lots of friendly women you can chat to if you like. Lots of the monthly groups have connected on facebook as a result of chatting here and it's moved on to real life friendships.

Mother and baby groups are good too -your public health nurse that visits after you have the baby might have details of local groups too. Our local one ran a fortnightly coffee morning in the nearby clinic and it was lovely to meet mums with similar aged babies and get to know others who were getting to grips with being a new mammy too.

Breastfeeding groups, baby activites and so on are all good to meet other parents too.

That sounds great! How do I get involved with the pregnancy forum? I'm new to all this haha! I look all the time for young cork mums on places like facebook but haven't been lucky yet! So I'm really up for anything at this point, thanks for getting back to me!
