    Hi all,

Wife had an issue with car yesterday.

    2011 Ford S-Max.
    1.6D
    40,000 miles.
Oil changed with Ford 5-W30 Fully synthetic every 6000 miles.
Air filter changed every 12,000 miles.
    Original Fuel filter.

    Symptoms:
    Outside Temp 3.5 degrees.
Loss of power on motorway, car started to slow down.
When engine is restarted, normal power resumes.
    Happened again 20 miles later.
No warning lights appeared on dash

Had topped up tank from 1/4 full to full (added approx 40 litres) of diesel from local Maxol garage (always fill up here).

Recent issues over last 12 months:
Drivers window wouldn't open. All other windows did. Turned off ignition, restarted - windows fine. 1 occurrence.
Stop/Start reported malfunction on dash light. Worked again fine the next morning. 1 occurrence.
Radio head working but display not lit up - 2 occurences in 12 months.

Havent had a chance to read the OBDII yet.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Would second George Daltons suggestion as first step.
If this filter has been there for 6 yrs and done 40 K mls it s a miracle that anything is getting through it .
I have cut open filters that were on 12 months in a car and the gunge in there was hard to believe.

Plus these have no lift pump in the tank and are therefore particularly sensitive to any restriction in the fuel system. Almost every week we see one or two in with the same symptoms and in the vast majority of cases a new filter sorts the problem.

One piece of advice when changing the filter is to try and loosen the 3 Tx20 screws in the top of the filter housing before disconnecting any pipes etc. If you can't get those to open you'll have to buy the complete filter and housing assembly from Ford.
