Where to get a hub geared hybrid?

I've been looking a few bikes online at Halfords and Chain Reactions and they seem to have very few hybrids with hub gearing. I'm not planning to buy a bike just yet but starting to consider it. If I was going to buy one, a hybrid seems like the best option as it's for short commutes to work and some leisure cycling. I'd also want something that is low maintenance without a lot of gears so I'm considering a hub geared bike.

Are these hard to get? There doesn't seem to be many (any) on the cycling websites I have looked at.

These aren't hybrids, as such, and maybe not much use if you're not in Dublin, but most of the bikes here are hub-geared:

They're mostly roadster-like, which are the bikes that typically have hub gears. With the enclosed chain they're all bikes that would need less maintenance, but they're harder to fix yourself if things go wrong. I have a cargo bike which is like a giant roadster, and I've had no issues whatsoever in 5000-6000km, apart from having to re-grease the roller brakes, so they might fit your requirement of little maintenance.

Surprised how expensive they are.  I thought they'd be less than 300-400.

No, the hub-geared bikes are a niche market here, so you don't get the volumes that bring prices down. But, to be fair, a good hybrid is about €600 new.

You could check out rothar.ie and see whether they have any refurbished bikes that take your fancy.

    Interesting.

It's funny I was out cycling earlier and could really feel the difference the gears made when going up inclines and when my legs were getting tired.  It had me thinking maybe a normal geared hybrid wouldn't be so bad.  Just want something low maintenance, reliable and comfortable.

Cycle Bike off Capel Street have hub geared hybrids. I doubt you'll get one for €400 though.

    Here's an example:-
