concrete gable barge

We are renovating a rubble built house in Kerry. After a new roof two years ago we are left with more leaks than we had with old roof. We realise now that the leaks are coming from the concrete barges. Can anyone tell what is the right construction of the barge? Do the slates go out to edge of gable wall under barge, and should there be lead between join of slates to barge?

They're probably not water resistant - paint them with roof-paint or similar suitable magic

the slates cannot go out under the barge as there would be nothing to hold the barge!

shows one in construction, the lead should go out under the roofing felt

If you scroll left in the pictures you will see more details..

The rain seems to be getting in under the barge where it meets the slates, rather than through the concrete

We have checked the attic and the gable wall is wet on the inside.

What can you see from inside in relation to the roofing felt and any lead flashing.

Can you post some pictures somewhere like flicker and then break up the link so as the system wont block you as you have less than 50 posts

    eg post

    or similiar

There is only lead around chimney on outside. No lead between slates and barge, should there visible lead along the length of barge on outside?

It depends on how it is done, hence the need for pictures, otherwise impossible to advise
