Hi guys my father finally picked a car to get my mother and he is looking at getting a alfa romeo 159. Main reason my mum and dad both love them and the father has had about 10 different ones over the years.

So what issues if there to look in the 1.9 jtd?.

    And realable how are they?.

The last alfa my dad had was a 156 2.0 t spark and it moved and WA really nice to be in he paid 1500 back in 2009 for it it was a 2002 with no nct and 85000 k miles. Passed it 1st time after getting the light bulbs changed in it. Had it for 2 years on to the water pump and timing belt and something else went wrong in it.

EGR, DPF and Swirl flaps - that's basically what is bothering the JTD.

Depending on the year it might come with the M32 gearbox - it is known to overheat the gearbox oil, which quickly deteriorates its lubrication capacity. If not changed regularly - every ~3 year/60 kkm - the bearings start to whine and the gear-stick will slightly move when releasing the clutch on the 1st gear.

Apart from that they are reliable cars and great cars, but finding JTD that is in good condition will be challenging. Much easier to get a nice 1.8 petrol.
