    Hi all,

I feel that I may be paying too much tax. I know this is highly unlikely but is there anyway I could check this out? Some of the lads earn less than me but their take home pay is the same, sometimes more than mine? Could I request revenue to do this?

They won't necessarily tell you that you're paying too much tax because that would involve them reviewing all your personal circumstances and seeing whether you could claim other credits.

However, what you can do is request a P21 balancing statement to see if you overpaid in any of the 4 previous years. Keep in mind that if you underpaid for any reason and this comes to light from the balancing statement, you'll have to pay them the balance (common one here is if you got any payments from the Department of Social Protection as they are subject to tax but not taxed at source).

Do you earn say 40k compared to those you are wondering about earning say 34k?

Why don't you do the calculations yourself?

    It takes about 5-10 mins.

Are you getting the PAYE and personal tax credits.

Are their circumstances the same as yours?ie are you both single with the PAYE Cr and single Credit total €3,300 and standard rate cut off of €33,800.

Or are you single and they are married so they have €4950 in tax credits and €42,800 in tax credits, sometimes even more.

Are you paying into a pension and they are not?
