A Cure for Wellness is out soon. And Raw and the Autopsy of Jane Doe will hopefully get a release over here. Alien Covenant in the summer.

Trailer for It Comes at Night was released today and looks excellent. Will probably be the end of the year or early next year before it’s out here, though.

And who knows what will come out of Berlin and other festivals. Indie horror is really where it’s at these days, but many of them get poor releases.

If you haven't seen it already, Under the Shadow came onto Netflix last month. It's superb.

Get Out and A Cure For Wellness both look creepy and should be opening soon.

Unearthed Films recently reinvented the Guinea Pig franchise. The first, Bouquet of Guts & Gore has no real story but lots of extreme nastiness. The second, Bloodshock is IMO much more superior. Not nearly as bloody as Bouquet but it has a very uncomfortable vibe throughout. The third, Song of Solomon is in post production and is their take on the exorcism genre.

Elsewhere I was recently pleasantly surprised by Atroz (Atrocious), a Mexican horror / part found footage effort.

the recent Train to Busan is a great take on the zombie genre

I caught Pet at a film festival last November and it was pretty good, worth keeping an eye out for whenever it gets a wider release.

Prevenge is due out shortly and looks set to be good fun, although I found Sightseers inconsistent so I'll see how that one shakes out.

Get Out could be good (The Stepford Minorities?), but I'm probably looking forward to A Cure For Wellness more.

The Love Witch is another one that sounds promising.

XX is a new all-female helmed horror anthology featuring four dark tales written and directed by fiercely talented women: Annie Clark (St. Vincent) rocks her directorial debut with THE BIRTHDAY PARTY; Karyn Kusama (THE INVITATION, GIRLFIGHT) exorcises HER ONLY LIVING SON; Roxanne Benjamin (V/H/S trilogy, SOUTHBOUND) screams DON'T FALL; and Jovanka Vuckovic (THE CAPTURED BIRD, former editor of Rue Morgue Magazine) dares to open THE BOX. Award-winning animator Sofia Carrillo (LA CASA TRISTE) wraps together stories of terror, blood and mayhem featuring a cast including Natalie Brown, Melanie Lynskey, Breeda Wool, Angela Trimbur, Sheila Vand and Christina Kirk.

I saw Prevenge in the cinema at the weekend and was impressed with it. Had low expectations going into it but it was an entertaining film and was quite funny in parts.
