    Hi,

Anyone find that fire tv stick + Amazon Prime Video no longer works - getting an error code 5505 when I try to stream any content from prime video. This had worked b4 x-mas fine with current setup. When I rang customer services they said service was not available in Ireland :(

I was about to buy a fire stick last night after reading that posters here were getting prime in Ireland in Dec/Jan. Have Amazon geo blocked Ireland now?

Prime Video is available here now, but I understand it's a completely seperate service to the UK version on a different website at a different URL. That might be what's confusing the device.

Using Amazon Fire Tv box and Prime Video working fine . you may not be set up for the Irish PV configuration. Saying that, with expection of GT and TMITHC very little on Irish PV offering. Something like <deleted> and access UK using that might be an option.

So, does that mean we can watch Amazon Prime Video straight out of the box or is there something else that has to be done (without breaching forum rules), thanks.
There were some posts a few weeks ago that got it working by phoning Amazon Prime helpline but this doesnt seem to be the current position as per the OP.

Amazon prime video is available in Ireland and is separate to Amazon Prime . A Ticket to amazon video support from your account should really sort you . A trawl of former post might help here.

Just to clarify my setup for all and thanks for replies btw. I have a current sub. for Amazon Prime Video which works if I stream content to PC/laptop etc.

My issue is around fire TV stick - when I use along with Smart TV and attempt to stream content via Prime Video I get an error. When I contacted Amazon last Fri. they told me fire tv+Prime Video is not available in Ireland.

This had worked up to and directly after Christmas - I don't know the exact date when it was cut off though.

I had something similar with the fire tv box , a call to amazon support sorted it. I was also told by one support person that fire tv was not available in ireland, but trying a secon d time got a tech support that sorted it

"I am sorry for any inconvenience caused by this situation.

I do understand you have successfully logged into the Prime Video website (www.primevideo.com) and you wish to stream videos in Ireland.

I have now updated this information in your account and can inform you that you will be able to access Prime videos in Ireland."

what they actually updated I dont know :/:confused:

Called Amazon C/S again yesterday evening. They firstly got me to change my Country settings to UK - this had no effect other than changing my home view.

A further call and they asked me to re-apply for 30 day free trial after being on the phone with them for 30 mins. explaining that I already had a sub. with Instant Video  .

Still getting a Network Error on Fire TV stick.

Anyway I've just been reviewing T&C's on Amazon and it states that:
"At this time, Fire TV devices are only compatible with Amazon Video in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Austria and Japan." So why did it work initially and how did they resolve for BluesWeeper and is your country settings set to Ireland?

Also, with UK region set I could still not use Watch While abroad facility which is meant to be available regardless of what country you are in!

I had the same issue. Found Amazon support to be useless the few times I was onto them.

I've subscribed to the Irish prime video now and it hasn't worked on the fire tv stick, but it does work on my phone and Amazon app on my main TV.

For a workaround to watch video on the fire TV stick, I open the prime video app on my phone, choose the programme and press watch on fire TV stick.
This has worked fine for me every time.

My fire stick arrived last Friday and Prime Video worked straight away. However, on Saturday I got a connection error with an amazon.co.uk link to customer service.
I went to the help page on Tuesday, got a phone call back from amazon customer service who talked me through a quick change on resetting my location and they also did something at their end. I had to deregister my fire stick, reregister it and restart, Prime Video has been working since.

If anyone is going to contact customer service, its easier to make the changes on a computer or possibly a tablet rather than a small screen phone.

Bought a Fire Stick last year from Amazon.co.uk. Just took it out of the box a few days ago. I need some guidance on setting it up. Out of the box, I have access to NBC, SkyNews and youtube but not much else that I'm interested in.

Would like access to RTE Player, BBC Player, CNN. I don't have a sub to Netflix or Amazon Prime.

I'm not sure whether my region is set to UK or US. If it's a UK stick is it automatically set to UK? I have a number of addresses associated with my Amazon account, US, Ireland and UK (Parcel Motel). But did buy the device from UK using Irish credit card.

There was a guide to setting up the stick somewhere on boards but can't find it now. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Update; one week later I got geographical error for prime movies and some prime TV. I was still able to access some prime TV series.

I contacted amazon costomer service and was told most of these services are not available in Ireland.

Coxy did you ever get sorted on this?

I have a fire stick, when I first got it I tried the free trial and videos worked but only via a VPN so I didn't bother with a sub.

Now I have access to a UK sub, can watch on my laptop "View while abroad" but on the fire stick I get the same error as yourself.

Weird that it works one way, but not the other

Why not get a smart dns and add into the wifi settings of the firestick. dead simple to do

Maybe it is but that all sounds Greek to me.
Can you please let me know what that even means

Running into the same issue. Waiting for a call back from Amazon CS for an hour now and found your thread in the meantime.
Netflix app streaming on Fire Stick works just fine, but Amazon video doesn't, displaying network_error instead.
At some point in the past it worked successfully (maybe 6 months ago - although we always had issues and had to keep resetting to factory settings and reinstalling everything)

(We have no prime subscription, just a regular amazon account and purchased a few episodes of a show earlier today. Would really prefer to watch on TV rather than tiny phone screen...).

Likely unrelated, but our fire stick seems to be thinking it's it's a US one. We selected language "English (United Kingdom)", but for location it only allows input of US zip codes. Anyone know how to make the Fire stick realize we are NOT in the US? (Problem may be that I use the same Amazon user id for both amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk purchases -- so maybe it defaults to US?)

Using Overplay you can buy a smart DNS for about €5 a month - just follow the guide to add into the fire-stick and Netflix and Prime will work as though based off a UK IP address. ;-)

Okay that's enough. We don't allow discussion of geoblocking and the reality is that the device in question isn't really on topic for this forum anyway.
