It's an anti theft measure, the car has a unique code to unlock the radio. You need to go to a ford main dealer to get the code if you don't have it.

Check the cars documentation first. This happened my wife's car before after changing the battery, and the four digit code was scribbled on the owners manual by the previous owner.
