    Hello all.
As the title suggests, I am in the market for a hard working Bangernomic's estate.
I'm flexible in that it doesn't necessarily have to be an estate but that is preferred.
I am currently cruising about in my '96 C200 which I purchased last year for €950.
1 owner, 85k miles, full history and immaculate. I am in the middle of a self build and am looking after a lot of it myself. I'm finding the merc is taking a bit of a hiding. I want to try and keep it decent soy plan is to take it off the road for 12 months and get myself a cheap lugger.

I have 2 kids so a van is no good. 2 years and 12 weeks.!

    Any thoughts on the following.

    Any other suggestions welcome.
    Cheers.

Something like a doblo/berlingo/partner car version might do the trick? Would be very practical for what you're doing. There was a newish high roof doblo (ex wheelchair) for sale there recently for €2k.

Hadn't actually considered those options. Will keep an eye out surely.
I forgot to mention my budget is pretty small, if at all possible 1,000 or less.
Any thoughts on the V70 I posted Colm? I spoke to the owner briefly, it's a genuine car. He has it for 10 or 11 years. I didn't get a chance to ask about timing belt or any other such stuff.

When you say load spec.. is that weight carrying capacity you are referring to?
It won't be overloaded much it's just putting bits of timber, drills, con saws in the boot along with jumping in with dirty boots & trousers and all associated dust, dirt and bits and pieces. Add to that park8ng on site most days getting the exterior covered in sh*ye and dust.
If it was for to tow an 8x4 trailer of turf this summer all the better..!!

Load space, as in the boot/seats folded down bit.

For some reason I read space as spec. No idea why.
The space is sufficient, it's really only being able to abuse a boot with bits and pieces and dirty boots!
Anything to look out for on this model?
I will call him in the morning and have a proper chat re; maintenance etc.

For under 1K the Passat 1.9 TDI estate will not be beaten. Trust me. It's a real workhorse.
OK this one has NCT until August, but 1K will get you a decent one. 200K is nothing on these engines.
    Something like this:

    I have an 02 V70, NCT'd 150,000 miles, 7 seats, 2.0 petrol

It's a cracking car that you can have for nothing. Catch is it needs clutch repair.

I doubt it is worth much as is but seems a huge shame to scrap it.
