I saw a black (military looking) helicopter flying over hueston / crumlin/ blackhall place today about 4pm.
Looked like it landed in IMMA.

Has anyone any ideas what was going on?

Usually that's some kind of medical transfer. James's hospital I guess.

Thats happened twice in the last week. Army chopper going into the Royal Hospital, I think.

Not sure if its anything to do with James'

It was an Air Corps AW139 and they are painted in dark green.

There's no landing pad at James' so they drop in at the Royal Hospital then transfer.

Seemed to be doing a lot of circuits before landing.
    Thanks for the information:)

Could be just training or waiting for the ambulance or landing zone preparation if transferring out.

I was visiting my father in law in James today at that time. The helicopter kept circling and descending towards heuston but would then accend again. It did that for a good half hour

It was at that some day in the last week or 10 days as well - one afternoon it must have passed over my house about 8 or 10 times - over and back between RHK direction and the hospital, by never descending or landing. Eventually it flew off westwards - to Baldonnel, i assume.

I wondered at the time what they were at!

I have a view over the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham. Usually there's an ambulance there to meet the chopper. Strangely enough though, today the chopper arrived, hovered over the ground, sans ambulance, and departed about 2 mins later. Maybe a training run.
