Hi I'm a newbie to getting car repairs done. I have a 08 Hyundai Tucson. I brought it to the garage to get a service done today. I knew that I had braking issues with the car already. Grinding noise & push back on the brake pedal. I was told I new pads and disks for it. Also a new spring in my wheel. Total cost was 710euro.

    Service cost: 190euro
Pads and disk change (and new spring) 520euro.

Thanks in advance for any help

How many discs did you get? 2 or 4?

Price of discs varies a good bit depending on the size (there are a few for your model) and brand.

From a motor factors, You'd be looking roughly €150 for mid range front discs. €40 or under for front pads. Guy has to make a bit of margin on them, then you're looking at labour costs,
Are you talking a new coil spring (suspension)? That'd be around €100 for the part, then a good 40mins labour on top of that.

Doesn't sound outrageous tbh. It all comes down to what parts were used.

Was it a main dealer or independent mechanic?

It was to get all four of them done. He described it as a spring in the steering. On full lock it would make a bang/clicking sound. As if I had turned the wheels too far

The price didn't seem outrageous, but just seeing such a massive variation in disk and pad prices I just wanted to double check

Type in your reg on the site below and see what the parts cost. might give some idea as to the price of the labour.

Was it a shock top mount you got replaced? I've seen them literally fall out of them before.

Could have been a cv joint?

Sounds like a good deal on 4 discs and 2 sets of pads.

Seem a fair price to me for the work done.

Price of the brake work if all 4 corners were done seems reasonable. The service sounds a bit saucy from an indo. Had to have been the full whack, oil air and fuel at that price.
