Passport Renewal

    Hi.

Just wondering if anyone can answer a question for me.

I have applied to renew my passport. I am told on the passport tracking that the issue date is the 8/2, I travel on the 9/2. I asked the passport office if I can collect the new passport on the 8/2 but they told me because it was done through passport express it has to be posted out.

Does anyone know if it will be posted on the 8/2 or after this date? The passport office will not answer the same question!!

I just got mine back, the system said it would be 3/2 but it came the 30th of January so you should be fine

How can anyone here give you a more official answer. Perhaps call again, be nice, and if you're not getting further, ask to speak with a manager. I would advise to be as nice as pie

When I call the number on the passport website the voice explains in both English and Irish that they do not take calls because of the high level of calls. Only able to contact them by twitter or email. Have done both.

Well that's not really good customer service. Perhaps call them out on it in twitter in a very nice polite way. I know my partner was able to sort her passport out after submitting it through the post office. She had to collect it herself in order to get it in time. But she dealt with a very understanding person

Get onto a politician. Seriously. They're good at following that stuff up.

Hi I had a similar problem. How I solved it was to join twitter and message the passport office. I quickly got a reply asking for the tracking number and they told me exactly where in the process the passport was. At the time I was told it was ready and they told me I'd have it in two days.... which I did.

I have a form filled out with my local TD, but nothing as yet. Not holding my breath on this one.

I've closed this thread in AH.

There is a thread in the Travel forum that you could ask in which has plenty of folk with knowledge in this area posting:
