I bought a 2010 opel insignia 6 months ago. It has broken down 3 times and the garage have been unwilling to help at all. I know it's outhe warranty but is there no comeback for me at all? Paid 8500 for it

    Why has it broken down?

Same problem 3 times. All the diesel leaked put of it. First time took it back to the garage and they put in a second hand Injector pipe. 2nd time had to take it to a different garage as I was outside of the county. They said the injector pipe was broke so they put in a new one. Rang the garage where I bought it and they said they would find that hard to believe that 2 pipes would go. This time I've taken it back to the garage that put in the new pipe. Rang the garage and they don't want to know about it. Couldn't care less at all. Even said they were hanging up the phone. Car was €97500. I got €1000 for my old one.

Putting in a second hand pipe tells you all you need to know tbh. Just move on with your life and forget them.

Well in fairness the car is out of warranty so they don't have to help you but if you went to them and paid for them to get your car sorted then that's bad form. Not much you can do except get yourself a good mechanic going forward :)

Go to a good independent diesel specialist and get the car sorted.
Ask around someone local will put you on to the right person.

I hear people saying all the time they wouldn't buy privately with no comeback, but you hear those stories so often where the so-called dealer guarantee isn't worth the paper its written on. Is that pretty much the norm?

Some aren't worth the paper they're not written on. Like every business you have the good and you have the bad.
