2002 Octavia power steering fluid

I got the rack changed recently. Initially if felt very good, not so much this week. I had a look and the mechanic put in red atf fluid. I believe that it needs chf green fluid. Will it do any damage? I asked the mechanic and he spoofed me off.

OP, yes some manufacturers use ATF as PS fluid. I don't know about 2002 Octavias though, did you google it?

suggests CHF.


I don't think using ATF instead of CHF is gonna end well tbh.


Top tip for draining/refilling/bleeding - put two glossy magazines under your wheels and you may be able to work the steering side to side without jacking the front up...

i know a few years ago i was told they basically the same... and can work no problem but not sure about modern stuff now

You need the green one. The other stuff will ruin the seals on the rack!
