    Hi folks,

As per title, we have a baby on way soon - very exciting!

I recently bought a new car, and would like to keep it in someway good condition - nieces and nephews have my sibling's cars destroyed!

Can anyone recommend any? Preferably Iosfix friendly. I've a Hyundai i40.

Your quest is in vain (as your siblings will explain to you).

The days when you care what your car (house, clothes, face) looks like will shortly be gone for ever, I'm afraid. You should have bought a second-hand car.

That's like saying I just want to keep the baby from being messy, not going to happen. Only thing is the mess they make can be cleaned if you're that worried about it. Get leather seats makes the cleaning easier.

    This ^^^

Also forget about the following happening unless by pure chance...

    Sleep
    Haircuts
    Exercise
    Sleep
Going for a No 2 in peace
    Eating at set times
    Sleep
Meeting up with the lads without wishing you were at home in bed asleep
    Sex
    Sleep

    :)

Get leatherette covers which can be wiped.

Get a baby seat that's easy clean in the washing machine they usually just puke all over themselves and their own seat.
Don't be a hero and pick them up while still puking or you'll get it as well as the rest of the car.
We've got one that's straight out of the exorcist and ones that's never puked. You might get lucky.

    Go leather next time.

I've kids, my car is fine. Just don't let them eat in the car. Done.

Oh and go back to sleep while you still can.

This is why I made sure my last 2 cars have had leather seats... quick wipe and it's done - plus a limit on what exactly can be consumed in the car (this applies to me too.. no chips for example.., stinks it up for days! :p)

We had a large heavy beach towel, put that over the seats and holes to access the seatbelt clips, protected everything perfectly, nothing got through.
Congratulations BTW, your life will soon change for the better

Your car seats won't actually get that dirty, the kids seat will. I've gone through 2 babies, the car was only a couple of weeks old when we had our first, and the back seats are still remarkably clean almost 7 years later. The filth is all over them, their seat and the floor. In fact the drivers seat is the one with the most stains due to me spilling and dropping all sorts.

This is absolute boll!x - I have a bmw f10 which is my pride and joy and is detailed to an inch of it's life every 6 months and I also have a 16 month old son and he's had no impact whatsoever on the car. He doesn't eat or drink in the car and luckily he's never been sick in it.

Having a child does not mean an end to nice things, despite what some people tell you ;)

I bought mine in Halfords for 30 quid. Prevents the sick from getting (almost) everywhere.
