    Hello !

First of all, it is my first Post on board.ie, and already found a lot of answers to my questions thanks to numerous helpful people. However, I still need your help!

So I am a fully registered Freelance photographer since the 28th of November 2016. I bought some equipment from the Marketplace of Amazon, and asked each seller to send me a VAT invoice. Only one of them did it. The two others didn't and the summary doesn't show the VAT.

One of the company is based is Shenzen but has a warehouse in UK, and when I requested the VAT invoice, here was the answer:

    "Hello,

Thanks for your order and so sorry for that we can not provide the VAT invoice to you.Because we pay the tax via the third Agency Company.
We can only send you the Formal Commercial Invoice like the PDF document i attached. Hope it can help you. If there are any question, please feel free contact with us."

So my question is, do I actually have to take the full price of the item, without the shipping and get rid of the 23% of VAT if I want the Tax Office to give me my VAT back? Or am I not able to request the VAT in that case?

I have their VAT number and a normal invoice with the details of the company.

Thanks a million for your help, I am completely lost with taxes and can't afford an accountant at the moment (probably next month).

    Thanks!

You can only claim VAT back from EU countries. Why don't you register your VAT No. with Amazon UK? You can then get VAT off your purchases that are sold and delivered by and from Amazon itself.

Thanks for your answer Kristopherus. Actually, my VAT is registered on Amazon UK. However, the items sold where supposed to be in UK, I really didn't realised there were sold by Chinese company (first mistakes of solde traders I guess). There's really nothing I can do?
