Expat Returning Home Query

Eight years ago I made a terrible decision to buy a property with a family member. I became redundant a few years later and went abroad in order to pay the mortgage. The particular family member also lives in the property so I was unable to rent out the property.

I have recently returned home after five years abroad and I am struggling to find employment.
I have enough saved to cover the agreed mortgage repayment for a few months.

My query is if I apply to go on Jobseekers Allowance will I be penalised due to the mortgage money in my bank account?

Also, I have not advised my mortgage provider that I have come home from abroad. Could they see through my PPS number if I am in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance? I am reluctant to tell them that I am jobless, for now. Thanks.

It would depend how much you have in savings, the thresholds are on welfare.ie
