So finally after admiring the CLS 250 from a distances for a few years im in a position now to make the purchase.... however I know very little about this particular car.... there doesnt seem to be much online about it... reliability... common issues etc...

I've heard horror stories about the older cls 320... after a few years even with low mileage .... failed suspension.... gear box issues.... all of which costs alot of money to repair.

The older 3.0 cls 320 would be a much heavier car on the front end due to the size of engine so maybe that wont be an issue with the smaller 2.2...

Am i buying with my heart and not my head.... should i go for the Audi A6 instead??

Most likely will purchase in the UK ... car gaint have a few i like the look of...

To be honest id much prefer the CLS.... anyone on where got one or know someone with one (2011 or greater)...

    Any info much appreciated

I always liked them and they are striking looking imo. The CLS is basically an E Class in a pretty dress so most of the E Class pros and cons will apply to the CLS. I think the 250 CDi has about 220bhp which is the most powerful of the 4 cylinder 2.1 litre diesel variants that have been around for a good few years but not sure how reliable that unit is. Ideally the 3.0 litre 350 CDi model would be the one to go for but there is a fair difference in price between the 4 and 6 cylinder versions. One thing I hate about Mercs of that era is the dashboards and all those fiddly small buttons in the centre console and the tiny infotainment screen. They moved to a floating touch screen with the facelift CLS from late 2014.

An A6 wouldn't be a rival to the CLS, the A7 would be the Audi equivalent to the CLS which is also stunning looking but seem to cost more especially the Quattro versions.
