I have a need to get an Android phone with 2 SIM cards in it (second hand). I really don't know enough about it to make a purchase online e.g. on eBay, so I have a few questions:-

    1) If I have 2 sims in a phone, do I need to manually switch between them or can I receive calls and SMS messages to either at any given time (reason I ask is that I saw one on eBay, but when I looked in small print, it said that I would need to manually switch and this is no use to me)

    2) are there any other questions I should be asking of a seller?

3)IO have a preference for Samsung, but I'm open to change.

If I'm not in the right forum, can someone please move me.

    Thanks,
    T

I've had a Samsung dual sim and it's dead easy. You can select one sim to be your default last time and both to be active.

I'm currently using a Wileyfox swift dual sim from Amazon cost €120 last year and I can't recommend it enough. It's fantastic never slows up and very fluid and crisp and both sims run flawlessly.

    Thanks IrishHomer

I'm not sure what you mean by "one sim to be your default last time " but just to be sure, and for example, can the phone receive SMS messages into BOTH numbers at the same time. I ask this because I say a dual-sim on e-may and the small print said "only one sim can be used at any given time. There therefore must be some "specification" for dual-sim phones that can be receiving incomings at the same time. This is what I'm trying to identify (so that I don't purchase the wrong type)

    SIM1 and SIM2 in.

You can dial out on either.
If a call comes in on SIM1, SIM2 goes offline
If a call comes in on SIM2, SIM1 goes offline

So when you're on the phone on one your other will go to voicemail. When you're not both can receive a call.

Ive found dual simming with 1x 3G Only and 1x 4G SIM causes headaches.

I have a Samsung S5 duos over two years.Best phone I have owned to date.

I have one sim for free calls and another sim I use for data.

Very simple to use. Both sims are active so you can call , sent text etc at the same time.

Just got Wileyfox Swift 2 for my mother for £120 on Amazon. Seems to be great phone, only issue I had testing it was that NFC didn't seem quite as good while using Android pay, to the point where I would be unlikely to bother.
