Merc - OK or would it break me?

    Hi All,

Always fancied a Merc but never bought one. Just wondering what your opinion is on something like the car below. I need an estate. For the average punter, would a Merc rob me & would I be better off with a regular estate (Insignia or Avensis). Have a feeling repairs could be costly but would like to hear real world opinions.

Bought from Naas Road Autos a few times before so happy enough with that garage. Just put that up as an example as I keep an eye on their stock.

I don't think it would cost massively more to keep on the road. A friend has a 200 cdi for the last few years and it's been relatively cheap to own. Just find a specialist to do servicing and repairs.

Ive owned a few mercs over the years and found them to be fairly reliable, and when they dd go wrong no more expensive to fix then other brands.
The 2.2 diesel engine is quite good, I haven't hear any horror stories and the later 7 speed auto proving to be reliable.

Thanks for all the replies. Everytime I go to change, I look at Mercedes but never have had the "liathróidí" to actually buy one.

    Thanks,
