Getting rid of Passat for something smaller....

    Currently we have one car, a 09 Passat Comfortline 2.0 Diesel. I like it, it's comfortable and haven't had much trouble with it since I got it.

    I drive around 80km per day Monday - Friday going to & from work. 400km per work week and 90% motorway driving.

    But I'm in the car on my own the whole time so not sure I actually need such a big car.

    However it also doubles up as the family car - at the weekends there are 2 adults, 2 kids, sometimes a pram, sometimes a kids bike, sometimes shopping etc. to be transported. So a smaller car might not cut it from that point of view.

    I was thinking I could get a newer smaller car for relatively little if trading in the passat... then maybe look at options for a cheap family car to accommodate car seats and with some boot space. Then with a 2nd car at home the Mrs. would have the option to use it while I'm at work.

    Any recommendations or suggestions?
