Something that could fit into the car easily enough.

Just needed to jack car safely in event of puncture.

    Thanks

    Aldi/Lidl usually have offers.
    Halfords/local motorfactor will have them.
Some cars come with a jack if they have a spare tyre.

A trolley jack will be more stable but not really suitable for hauling around in the car. A bottle jack will be best if you want to carry it around. Make sure you get a pad suitable for your jack points. Most importantly get axle stands and chocks.

I just want something that will jack the car up at the side of the road safely while I replace the tyre.

Would a 2 tonne scissors jack like the one on Halfords be ok? Around €40 I think.

I have an existing jack but it says max 950kg. How much weight would be on the jack lifting a puncture if the car is around 2/2.5 tonne?

I have scissor jack in car for lifting and changing tyres. If the jack comes with the car it is rated for the car.
A halfords jack should be fine for any normal car or MPV.
MPVs are usually less than two tonnes anyway and you're only jacking up a corner, not the entire car.

And of course - never get underneath a car that is only supported by a jack, the jack could fail at any time.

Your lifting a quarter the weight of the car if you jack one wheel up. Depending on the balance it could be more at the front, but never more than a tonne. Check a breakers for a jack from your car, as that will be designed to sit into the jacking points, a bottle jack would be safer than a scissors jack

Edit... Missed you already had a jack, if that is from the car it'll be fine.

I would say you are lifting more than a 1/4 of the weight, possibly closer to 1/2 the weight especially at the front with the engine.

The scissors jack can be hard enough to get up. What is the bottle jack like?
They do seem to be a lot more compact.

Bottle jacks are heavy enough and don't have much reach.
Halfords have a nice scissor jack for about €25
