The wife's car is booked in for an NCT on Thursday but she has to work. Would I be able to bring it? Do I just need the log book?

ID and log book. As long as you're insured obviously.

I've never brought in a log book. Just driving licence.

And just to be 100% sure - it's your ID you need to bring - not your wife's.

Also it needs to be driving licence or passport, and they seem to be very strict about that.

They ask you to bring it. Some employee in some place might not ask but it's on their FAQ page.

They always ask for the vehicle log book in the Enniscorthy centre.

I had mine there and I turned up and all i was asked for was me licence and the reg number.
Was lucky coz I'd cleared the car out, including the log book and owner documents etc from the glove box as they tell u to have the car cleared before going in.
I've also had me Da go in with my car and he's not even insured on it (just his own policy on his car).
I don't think they care who owns the car.

Your not always asked for it but bring your log book.
You will be asked for your drivers licence though, doesn't matter if it's your car or not. The nct doesn't care if your insured either, the earlier poster was just refering to the fact you shouldn't drive it down unless your insured.

The earlier post forgot to mention if it was taxed. An untaxed vehicle should not be on public roads. The earlier post forgot also that if the car has expired nct their insurance may be invalid, another motoring offence.

    NCT don't check tax.
Also, isint there a small sub section that allows an untaxed car timber on the road while be driven to and from an nct test.

    Yes, quick Google:

    http://www.housing.gov.ie/local-government/motor-tax/vehicle-road/qa
Q15. What if I'm due to have an NCT while my car is off the road?

A15. A vehicle may be used during the period of a non-use declaration in two cases:

to bring it to and from a test centre for the test; or
to bring it for repair after a re-test, or back to where you are keeping it while it is off the road after the repairs. This option may only be used where an appointment has already been made for a re-test.
The same rules apply to roadworthiness testing for commercial vehicles.

If you are bringing the vehicle to a test centre or to or from repairs after a test failure, it would be advisable to carry a copy of the appointment for the test or re-test with you.
