Estate agent final check

Hi all - we are close to closing and our solicitor mentioned that maybe a day or two before we get the keys, that we should instruct the vendors estate agent to go to the house and do a walk through. She said to make sure he checks everything is working etc.

Is this the norm? sounds weird to ask the estate agent (who works for the vendor/just wants his %) to do something on our behalf. I dont even think i would believe he would do it !

    Has anyone else done this?

She is a very experienced solicitor and we couldnt fault her so far. I just thought it was a bit weird - like it makes sense but its weird.

Ask to do it yourself, we did our own.

I thought that would make more sense but maybe she suggested that because we are both stuck for getting time off work these days.

Perhaps she meant meet the EA and do a walk around? Before signing..

Ill clarify with her but im pretty sure she said "get the estate agent to check everything is working a few days before getting the keys".

I couldnt imagine him holding up his commission because the oven wasnt working. i might push for us to do with with the EA or on our own.

TBH walk rounds are generally a waste of time anyway. Are you going to hold up moving in because of a broken cooker or block toilet? Probably not.

Just make sure they've not taken the kitchen out or parked a car in the sun room.
