If I'm worried about privacy I'll use a vpn and clear my browsing data regularly. If I don't care about cookies i don't need to be asked about them constantly

I'm with you there, very annoying when it's every bloody site. But it's for legal reasons around data protection. Sites have to make it clear and obvious what they're doing. Annoying for the 99% but it's a legal requirement to protect the sites from the 1%

Is there any add on or option to turn the alerts off permanently? Perhaps there could be a declaration of "I am not a simpleton" at the browser instal stage that would work? It's more EU bull**** no wonder the UK voted for Brexit.

Mind you, the end user can refuse them, even chocolate chips ones. By running something like Ghostery. It's a bit like the Hovis witnesses, they have to knock on the door if they want in, but you can always tell em to clear off.
