Piano Black micro scratches

I wish I had found this forum sooner!

I just collected my brand new 171 VW today and it looked fantastic when i picked it up. When I got it home under the lights in the underground car park I noticed very fine scratches / swirls on the piano black finish on the exterior door pillars. Most people probably wouldn't notice, but I'm sick over it.

I found a suggestion of using Brasso. I have an old TV with a similar finish on the bezels, so I gave it a shot and it seemed to actually work. I don't want to make it any worse, so any suggestions to a fix would be hugely appreciated!

Those bezels are ridiculous for scratching, if you look at one wrong they'll swirl. Best bet is to polish them and cost them in a ceramic to mitigate any future damage!

A decent polish and some elbow grease (presuming you don't have a da polisher to hand) should help reduce remove swirls.

They have most likely appeared due to poor wash method at dealer, i.e buggers washed with sponge and dirty water.

For future prevention look at setting yourself up with some basic bits and if maybe look up on YouTube on how to wash/detail car videos, I recommend looking up ammonyc video's, covers everything in a few shortish videos and not hours at a time.

    To start basic tools

2 buckets (1 to rinse, 1 with shampoo)
    A good lambswool/microfiber wash mitt
1 good shampoo to suit needs**
    Grit guards for buckets
Access to a hose, pressure washer if available

Wheel woolies/eezee brush for wheels. Use these last after rest of car clean or get 3rd bucket for wheels only.

Also see detail chat thread, have a read, loads of advice. Think in last month there is couple posts with breakdown of options on detailing.

** I say suit needs as only you can answer that and depends on how far you want to go, time dependent people only have an hour on a Saturday so a shampoo wax combo is only option, others prefer separate wax and have the weekend spare or are ocd :D

    Live with it.
I have a Passat with the same black on the pillars.
I was extremely careful with the car and coated everything in CQUK and Dlux.
While it probably helped. It certainly did not stop them from swirling.
As FN said, if you look crooked at them swirls will appear.
    My solution.!
Turn a blind eye to it.

Get them wrapped. Much easier to live with. Mine were swirled peeling the protective film off it.

I need to get the current car done but had the last one done and it made a big difference.
