    Hello!
We're using Eir's eFibre for about 3yrs now & I think possibly the router is starting to play up a bit (power light goes on/off).
I've been on to Eir & they did offer to send out a new one if it got any worse... but I don't really want to go that way.
I'd like to buy a new dual-band router that will take up to 10 devices & 4/5 1000gb network ports.
    Has anyone any recommendations please?
    TIA
    Jasper
P.S. Mods, apologies if this is in the wrong place :-)

    Pricey!

To straight replace the F2000 you need a router that supports vectoring and there isn't that much choice in them. One of the Draytek Vigor models or a Fritzbox 7390 etc. You'd be better off getting a new F2000 off eir and bridging it to a good dual band router w gigabit ports like an archer c7.

If he has eFibre since 2013 he's probably using the F1000 which is junk compared to the F2000. The F2000 will support plenty of devices and has 4 gigabit ports, as isp supplied routers go it's probably the best out there.

    Thanks for your replies,

BoobyCharlton, I understand what you're saying...

JCA, Yes you're right I've got the F1000, I will ring them Mon & see if we can get the F2000.

I don't mind spending a bit of money to get something that's going to do a REALLY good job.... So I was checking out PC World's site & was wondering about this: http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/linksys-xac1200uk-wireless-modem-router-ac-1200-dualband/325099/402.0.0

    What do you think?

    TIA,
    Jasper

I got a NetgearD7000 and I found it good on Eircom broadband.
Edit - FYI It has a wizard to setup the WAN side of things that includes Eircom in the list of templates it has installed.
Not a huge adbvantage... but it's somehting I suppose :-)

I've since changed to Vodafone broadband last week.... so if anyone has the Voda WAN login details ;-)
The standard Vodafone (huaweii) HG659 is usable but not anything special

ah ha, so login = "serialno"@vfiefttc.ie and the password is serial number, or the same as the login?
