I'm getting the bathroom renovated at the moment. I currently have a 1.5 bar positive head pump am considering changing it.

I've what is probably a very stupid question - if I get a 3 bar pump will it:

    A) Use more water quicker than the 1.5 bar pump
    B) Be louder than the 1.5 bar pump

It will push more water yes.

Loudness is dependent on the impellers and the quality of the pump. Finally the quality of the fit and install.

The pressure does not impact the loudness

Will it push much more water? Just conscious that it might run through the hot water quickly. I have a combi tank at the moment.

It will run through it more quickly yes. Good pumps require relatable size tanks. You can compensate somewhat by choosing a shower head that uses less water.

Good plumber should be able to advise on tank suitability

There are plastic body pumps & more expensive are the brass body pumps. The brass ones are worth the extra money
