Know a few people with H1s and they're delighted with them. They're also very fast. Not sure they're big enough if you're talking LWB vans?

Transit or be transporter would be what I'd be looking for.

H1 or lwb hiace. If you enjoy expensive repairs, by all means get a transporter.
The sprinter is a good van but maybe too big?

Hiace is the most reliable by a mile

    Renault Master.

Not that reliable, brakes aren't great either. Comfortable though.

    VW Transporters are great vans.
The Mercedes Sprinter vans can be very expensive to service and repair.
Have heard the Hyundai Hi is not the most economical.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Transporters are great to drive no doubt but they're soft as butter. They're not a rugged van be any means. Only a few days ago a neighbour burnt a 25k km 162 transporter clutch towing a reasonable trailer with only few bits, a whacker plate being the heaviest.
I don't know much about the newer sprinter but had an 08 as a company van and it was rock solid.
The Vito on the other hand is a time bomb for torture.

Depends on what you call LWB. The size of the van is a determining factor, Iveco Daily MWB is longer than the LWB hiace

I don't like the look of them and don't have one but they in previous experience they were trouble free, which van would you recommend for the op criteria?

It really depends on what size they need. The Hiace is quite small and not as practical as modern vans. They're light on safety equipment and very old fashioned. Fuel economy on them isn't as good as more modern stuff either.
I'm quite a fan of the H1 but again I don't know that it would be big enough for the OP.

A rough operater would burn a clutch out on day one. Perhaps had he the older 2.5 one which was more of a real van maybe?

    Renault Master.

I'd only have one inside the 5 year unlimited mileage warranty after that I woundnt entertain one round the place. Also a very soft van door handles fall off and are generally soft.

Thought the newer ones are 2.0? The old transporters were good but I suppose nothing is built to last anymore.

They are what I meant was maybe he had a 2.5 before he got the newer 2.0 and has the same expectations on it. Sorry about mix up.
Then again some people are dog rough, they would bend a cro bar in a bog.
