    hi

I am looking for a racer from the 1980's era that's is either fully restored or in very good condition and no work needed to it. I have been looking around but haven't quite found one I like. Looking for one that would suit a 6 ft 1 rider.

If anyone has one for sale on here please let me know.

    Thanks.

I have a mid 80's 56cm Raleigh criterium that might suit you. It needs a little clean up but not much

    Hi folks,

I have two Peugeot's built up which would suit size requirements.

23.5" 1982 Peugeot Ph12 Centenary Version, brought out to celebrate 100 years, mainly French parts, carbolite tubing all original.€250

22.5" 1987(?) Peugeot Reynolds 531 Professional - not dissimilar to ANC Halfords team bikes with mix of lightweight parts.€400

Both bikes have been ridden at the OldVelos Vintage Classic.

I also have selection of Reynolds 531 frames:
    24" 1952 A.S. Gillott (very rare)
23" 1978 Gazelle Champion Mondial (AB),
    22.5" 1956 (?) BSA Golden Wings.

Sorry no pics this evening, but there may be some on www.OldVelos.com

Best wishes all, great time for a bike search!!

    Brendan

    Hi Brendan,

Do you have prices for the frames? Do they include stem/forks? I've always fancied a restoration project and one of these might be the ticket.

    Cheers

    Hi 'Will'

Hope Seadin (OP) doesn't mind my intrusion!

The BSA is €150 - if you're from Limerick it still has the original shop decal Nestor Bros.

    Gazelle €250

    A.S. Gillott €350

I have ridden all three bikes and they are all 'classics' in their different ways.

Let me know how that sounds,

    Brendan

Lovely selection of bikes there - a word of caution to anyone looking to restore an old bike - you will be sucked in, and have no time left for your family, work etc. It's as addictive as sugar.

I've only just started on a Gazelle Champion Mondial, which is being built with a mix of Dura Ace - 7800 Gruppo, 7700 wheelset and a 7400 seat pin, should have it finished this weekend.

Thanks for that and sorry for delay, life got mad busy and will be for the next week. So will respond fully and with photos next week. Hope that's ok?

In the meantime ye might be interested in some of the vintage activities on www.oldvelos.com and under OldVelos on facebook.

    Best wishes,

    Brendan

If you are based in Dublin you could try Bolton Cycles, 33 Bolton St, Dublin 1, Dublin Phone: 087 903 5166. They a a couple of very decent steel bikes (and one Olmo frame) at very reasonable money. Mention 'OldVelos' and he will look after you. The owner is a nice guy and likes to see vintage steel going to a good home rather than be 'fixied' and trashed !
