Are we going to be left behind in this new emerging global dynamic because our politicians and media think a throwaway comment about a pussy over a decade ago and wanting to appease a self destructive Germany?

Are the posh psychotics in People Before Profit and Eamon Ryan's upper midde class smugness worth missing this boat for?

Never underestimate the bitterness and danger of Generation snowflake. They are the ones trying to create some kind of 1984. Not the uber right. Like idiots in the UK lying down on runway for an American Issue BLM.

Like or loathe him, his achievement in being elected, contrary to the expectations of pretty much of all of US and world-wide geo-political establishment - the neocons, the liberal axis, the mainstream media, the pundits, the pollsters, the analysts, the CIA, the entertainment industry/Hollywood axis - Christ, even Wall Street wasn't all that keen on him - is among the greatest in recent human history.

Never underestimate the bitterness and danger of the poor unfortunate white man. I'll look for answers in history rather than a ridiculous term that was coined only in the last year or two. Conservatives spewing out "Generation Snowflake" is like liberals saying "Post truth". Idiotic, ill founded, meaningless catch phrases; and nothing more than an excuse for ignoring honest discussion and facing some harsh truths on both sides.

Most of Generation snowflake are white. Desperately trying to solve there White guilt that's taught in College. If you are white it's your fault everything happens in the world.

I can imagine the type of eejits who would be out protesting if Trump was to ever visit, probably the same type of fools who went out to Sandymount beach with their welcome refugee signs or the same type of fools who make a complaint to RTE if someone says a curse word on the TV. People with nothing to do and all day to do it.

    Exhibit A, Your Honour.

You argued we should not underestimate the danger of "generation snowflake". I'm simply saying that a far greater danger throughout history has been that of angry white men. This is fairly undisputable for anyone with any knowledge of history, unless you're an alternative facts kind of guy.

I know history pretty well. Arguably more white slave throughout human history. Take Irish slaves in the USA worked to death. Black slaves were worth money. White ones were not. And lets not even mention the Chines and treatment of it's own people. Africans selling black slaves. History is not just White peoples fault. White people band the slave trade. Can still get them in Africa.

Challenging and criticising someone else's speech is fundamental to the idea of free speech. Faux conservatives too often forget this. Damn anti-democratic crazy cucks.

Some people can't manage to construct a coherent argument.

There's one thing that all the Trump supporters seem to have, it's an inability to make a post without making a derogatory statement about someone. The alt right in particular have a propensity for sexual insults (In this case metrosexual).

It's not about debating fact. It's the politics of a 13 year old bully who thinks they can win through humiliation.

The crazies on the right pointing the finger at the crazies on the left and vice versa, both as bad as each other. One lot treats Trump like the anti-christ and the other the second coming of christ.

Nonsense! This is Ireland.. there IS no "alt right" except as a buzzword on social media by those who see questions and debate as threats to their viewpoint. Contrary to what Twitter and Facebook might have you believe, there's a big world out there beyond US college campuses and the race to show each other how "progressive"/"right-on" you are.

Another common tactic is to try and discredit the person with the question/objection and stifle the debate itself by insulting their intelligence while ignoring and not responding to the actual point they raised.

And yet they're the "fascists"

While I attack Trump for being an incompetent idiot I have no sympathy for the left. They will attack people with different views and lean on them yet call those on the right "fascists".

People are tired of being told what to think and how to think by do-gooders, mostly middle class, and thus uneffected by the effect of their "tolerance" towards certain issues particularly immigration.

Look at this nutty reaction to Trumps victory. The left wing media can not believe they can't tell people how to think any more or provide their moral compass to the peasantry.

Lol. Whitelash... Pretty sure most presidents win because of the white vote. because America is mostly white. And who was the black person running for office ? They do realise Obama had 2 terms ? Seemed to be advocating 3 ?

Whatever about Trump (I'm sure Enda Kenny and whoever replaces him will be perfectly happy to fellate him every St Patrick's Day for the next four years, so you've nothing to worry about there), should Ireland not be opposing Brexit? As there doesn't seem to be any alternative to the return of a hard border between north and south, is it not incumbent upon our government to attack Brexit? There's an outside chance that we might have an opportunity to vote on it.

Agreed that Kenny would 'fellate' whoever was elected as US President.

There is no point in our public figures being publicly anti-Brexit though, it just leaves us with our ass in the air if "hard Brexit" goes ahead.

There a fair number of Tories that are opposed, they are keeping their powder dry for the time being, at least in public. Bear in mind that the Iron Lady was done in by the pro-European faction in her own party!

Yep, attacking a persons views is perfectly acceptable. If a person says something racist it's ok to call them racist. If a person says something nonsensical then it's ok to point out why it's nonsensical and call them an idiot.

There's this image of people on the left as trying to shut down free speech because they point out those things. I'm sure there's probably a few on the left that are but the majority aren't.

I'll even call out their debating style. If they start with "liberal tears" or "Snowflake" I'll generally tell them to cut out that crap and actually talk facts.

It is an important election. It's not some little country in the back end of nowhere. It's the most powerful nation on earth. Even just from a domestic policy point of view they can affect what happens here. If Trump guts the EPA and rolls back environmental legislation the way he says he will, it will have a detrimental effect on global warming and therefore on us. If he starts engaging in protectionist policies we could see multinationals cutting jobs and we lose out. IF Russia influenced the US election then we should be worried that it could happen in europe too.

What happens in america influences and effects the rest of the world, especially in the west.

It might be part of the reason why Trump resonated with so many men.

For instance, I played both hurling, Gaelic football and rugby up to a senior level. As in playing for my clubs first teams.

A boys dressing room is just like Trump mouthing off. We do slag each other and sometimes refer to women in a less than delicate manner. We sometimes use bad man words to describe women. From slang like broad or bird, to insults like bitch or cnut.

All guys have used these phrases. All former Presidents of the USA have also. At least "45" will admit to doing it.

The issue is Trump has said it in public not being a politician. That and using a 10 year old tap is just well real life strawman. Most have USA presidents behind close doors have been anything from criminals, Racists, womanisers, Drug users. Bill was liked and he got a BJ in the white house. Now they are all over him and his wife gushing. If you use the left logic Hillary would be a weak woman taking a cheater back.

Most guys will talk sexually about women (if they're straight) but most won't wander around a teenagers dressing room and will realise what's very wrong about it.

No, those images are carefully crafted. Millions of women marched in protest against Trump. There's any number of video's of stupid women saying stupid things. Those women are a minority yet they're used to portray all of the millions as mindless idiots.
The vast majority of people who dislike Trump are not radical idiots. They are people who saw an obnoxious liar who's policies are dangerous. They dislike him because of what he said and what he's said he's going to do.

So? Are women not allowed to make up their own minds? Or do they vote as a homogeneous group like stepford wifes?

And by the way, it was 42%.
