I was left go yesterday and applied for job seekers allowance today.

I was given all the forms to fill in and an appointment to bring them back but its for the 21st of february...didn't expect it to be so far away.

Is it normal for the "return form appointment" be weeks away??

I'm assuming I will be backpaid to day the claim was opened and not from the appointment when I return the forms...

If you have little or no income you can apply to the CWO department for an SWA payment. It will be meanstested.

Make sure you're applying for job seekers benefit and not allowance, assuming you've worked up enough stamps.

Is it return on 21st of Feb or return by 21st of Feb? In my area it is usually the latter so I would fill it out as quickly as possible and get it back to them before the date.

Yes it will be backdated to the date you first called into them. As others have said go to your CWO in the meantime if you're stuck.

After finally getting through the office, they said that's the next available appointment as there's a massive backlog of claims
