Need 4 tires and what's on the a3 at the mo is 225 50 17.

If I go 225 45 17 there alot cheaper for like software pirelli or any of the premium brands.

Would it be noticeable or a bad idea

It'd effect the speedo slightly. You may have to notify insurance too. Is there much in price difference? You'll forfeit comfort as well.

    What year is the a3?

    It's a 04 diesel

There not the standard wheels anyway. They were bought to replace 19"s
    I thinks it's a4 or a6 wheels.

In that case, do what suits your pocket.

I think 225 45 17 are an original size on that era A3.
I'd be happy with them anyway.

205/50/17 or 225/45/17 would be correct for your car too. The 225/45 is cheaper so get those.

    Ehhh..... I wouldn't.

I'm sure that's the tyre that was on it when you first insured it.

Some ppl actually think that ins companies do a forensic examination of a car after an accident.

Ins companies just want claims sorted out quickly and with the least cost.

Ins companies willingly pay out for false claims, simply because it's cheaper than contesting it.

Take from that what you will.
