Hi, travelling back from San Fran to Dublin through LAX so was just hoping to know how long to leave between flights to get from LAX T3 Domestic to International terminal. Taking into account baggage reclaim and checking in again in International LAX terminal?

T3 is right next to TBIT. I would be surprised if it took more than 30 minutes to get your bags to checking in TBIT. Although if fog moves in in SFO you should maybe look at adding potential delays for that as well.

Typically when I fly into LAX internationally, I give myself at least two hours for a connection, but I only have hand luggage. I would say give at least 3 hours just in case of any delays (they are few, but can happen). TBIT is new and nice now, so you can spend time there. It's better to wait time out there than miss a flight.

Would also be worth looking at checking in online and dropping bags off as well, if possible.

If your flying wtih Aer Lingus to Dublin they operate out of T2, not TBIT. Ethiopian are however at TBIT.

Also one other thing to consider is if there is an interline agreement between your two carriers. If you are coming into T3 you could be on Virgin, Alaskan or JetBlue. Are Lingus, BA etc have agreements in place with some of these so it doesn't hurt to ring up and ask. If there is one they will check your bags through to Dublin from SFO. That way you don't have to pick up your luggage at T3, but do find out before you go.

Thanks, we are flying with Ethiopian back to Dublin so flight is 1145pm from LAX. So if I get a plane from SFO landing in LAX T3 around 8 or 9pm should be plenty of time to switch and recheck in?

I would say try to get in by 8. You never know if there are unforeseen delays etc. Also TBIT is new with some old parts still attached so it is not the worst to be in if you have another hour to kill. I usually give myself 2.5 hours for this type of transfer, but I only ever have carry-on. Also it gives you some room if something is to happen with the connecting flight.

I have been lucky, but this year I did get caught out (1st time in 12 years), but I was able to make other arrangements to get me into LAX. These are very rare, but its better to be able to have a plan then not. Last minute international flights are not cheap!

If you haven't booked your flight yet into LAX yet, look at United as Ethiopian and United are in the same alliance. They should be able to interlink your bags and you can use the newly opened TBIT connector to go straight from United through to TBIT. But always double check on this as airlines in the USA are getting quite stingy.
