His I recently returned to education and bought a 1 litre yaris 2000 reg to drive up and down to college and I do pizza delivery 3 nights a week.

So I get 330 miles to 47 -50 euro petrol currently

I'm looking at upgrading car to a bigger car and am looking at a 2004 avensis 1.6 would the avensis be OK fuel wise or an absolute pig?

My wife has a 2004 avensis verso 2.0 litre absolutely fantastic car to drive and reliable but the 2 litre engine is hard on fuel. Any advice please?

Don't know what mileage we do per week but it's about 18k a year and I put 60 quid into my 1.6 Avensis every 2 weeks or thereabouts.

If most of your driving is around town doing deliveries then an Avensis ain't going to be any lighter on fuel than your current Yaris.

I drive 250 miles per week on open back road so say 50 miles per hour and do about 150 miles deliveries per week. I live in a small town in midland no traffic really and a good few delivery would be far so not heavy acceleration etc

    Not a hope.

A diesel Avensis wouldn't do that.

Might be 18k kms/annum he does.
About 50mpg.......... he said thereabout too so if he topped up every 12/13 days instead of literally every 14 days that'd drop to 45mpg ish which isn't unbelievable :)

€1.37 per litre of petrol means €60 will buy c.9.65 gallons.

750 miles divided by 9.65 would mean an average fuel consumption of 77.72 mpg which would probably be a world record.

You will not get anywhere near 750 miles from a full tank of petrol in a Mk 2 Avensis. I had a 1.8 litre Avensis many years ago and the estimate range I got from a full tank of petrol was around 400 miles, the 1.6 litre would be similar. If you could get 750 miles to a tank of petrol from an Avensis then Toyota wouldn't need to offer a diesel version.

he didn't specify miles or kms though

If it's kms it's believable given the thereabout comment

Would you lads recommend the avensis then?

Sorry, We do 18k (KM) a year but most weeks of the year it's just school runs and shopping runs and then a few times a year we have long trips to the country and back. All I know is 60 quid every two weeks or so is what I top up with.
