Trading down - diesel Focus to petrol Fiesta

Briefly - no longer doing as much work related mileage so thinking of downsizing from diesel Focus to petrol Fiesta ( new or low mileage 15/16 reg). I've no passenger requirements so thinking a smaller car will work out more economical at this point.

    1. I've always liked Ford so inclined to stick with the brand , but are there other like spec / and quality alternatives to the Fiesta ( new or nearly new) ?
    2. Is my trade in deal likely to be better or worse if I opt for a clean low mileage 15 or 16 reg car rather than new ?
All advice / comments / suggestions welcome !

You don't say what year your Focus is but if it's market value is similar or higher than a 15/16 reg petrol Fiesta then you will most likely get a well below market value trade in allowance from a dealer. Either way they will want to make money from the deal.

Financially you will be better off selling the Focus privately and then buying the Fiesta with no trade in from a dealer. If you don't want the hassle of selling privately and don't mind the financial this advantage of trading in then approach a dealer and see what money they are talking about. There is a brand new Fiesta model out in a few months so you might get a respectable deal on a run out current model.

Buy an ST Fiesta. Lowish running costs and a whole lot of fun too.
