    Moved from Forum Requests

Moving to Motors as the Longford forum appears to be a bit of a wasteland.

    Pretty true to life then!

OP perhaps a Mercedes specialist could help you. Smart cars wouldn't have been massive sellers here.

What do you need done? Possibly a regular mechanic can do the work.

There unbelievably rough on the road to drive. How good are the roads in Longford? The interior is also cheap and nasty, they're noisy and generally struggle to do better they 45mpg no matter how easy you drive them. Slow too. Can't see why you'd bother unless your parking space was very small. Even then...

Toyota iQ would be a better proposition.

OP, there is no actual "Smart" mechanic but 1 man I would go to for a service is Kevin Mahon, I have been using him for years and he knows his cars and does brilliant work.

What has that got to do with the OP looking for a SMART service location?

Roads not great in Longford but I've got used to driving the Smart on them. No problem keeping up speed in it either. Got it as my first car & I love it. Just annoying when you can't open the bonnet like other cars 😊

Second vote for Eric Norton just out the Edgeworthstown road from Ballinalee.

I have a Smart 450 cabrio and they're brilliant fun. Harsh on the road yes but you feel like a rally driver! Critical thing is to check oil regularly and when fully up to temperature - 3 blobs on the display. Lazy mechanics only change the top 3 plugs as the others are a pig to get at. Only use the correct fully synthetic oil.

I have the Smart 450 City Coupe. Been only driving it since November last, actually I'm learning to drive in it ☺ These Smart Cars certainly catch people's eye when on the road with the make of them. Thanks for the advice on the oil. Must get my car to Eric Norton who was recommended above.

Good luck with the driving! I had one of the original Smart cars fir a week ( promotional car for a franchise) and it was great fun tearing around town in it. collected it from Tuam one night and drove it to Cavan . Once used to the semi auto gearbox, it was fun to drive.
