    Boiler: Micron 70FF (Manual)
House: 3 Story w tanks in attic
    Controller: Traditional timer

    Boiler was serviced in November.

This is a family members house. They handnt noticed but listening to their boiler it was rapidly firing up and halting. It cycles maybe 10-20 times then settles, runs for a minute or two and stops. Then a 2-3 minutes starts the process again.

Obviously something is up. The problem is the LL is in negative equity and flat broke. Getting any routine maintenance done is problematic. The serviceperson sent is a personal friend of the LL.

Is this a failed thermistor (something anyone could replace if an RGI wasnt required) or is it likely something more? Also what are the implications for safety & gas consumption while its not rectified?

    Cheers,
    ED-E.

    *not a plumber or RGI

Had a similar thing, ended up being the pump not working so only a tiny bit of water was heating and reaching temperature so boiler shut down , but it wasn't being circulated

Rads seem to be heating ok so I assumed that wasnt the cause. Were yours still heating with reduced flow?

No, no heat was being circulated

Any work inside the boiler casings / covers is RGI only, including thermistors.
In saying that, check your pump speed setting, if its on 1, move it to 2 or 3 and turn the temperature control on the boiler to the midway point and see if that settles it a bit.
Very well could be another issue, but try that first.

I had the exact same problem with the exact same boiler.

PCB Board had to be replaced by a friend of mine who is RGII Registered.
Not saying that is your specific problem.
But as pointed out, only a registered RGII can legally open a boiler.
