In my experience - extension lead and a Miele is what you need. All those little in-car vacuums are pretty useless. It takes at least a good few hundred watts of power to create enough suction to be of any use and you will not get that from a 12V cigarette lighter socket. You need the mains and a decent sized machine.

Most of the handheld rechargeable machines are relying on rotating brushes primarily to do the cleaning, not just suction.

Miele also do a set of long, flexible nozzles and so on for getting into the spaces between seats etc The accessories are a bit pricy but they're hard to beat.

agreed - you need a bagged miele hoover, currently on offer in currys actually ;)

Dyson Car vac is what I use for general once a week tidying up but its pricey, and even then every now and again i'll take the mats out and give them a proper going over with the household vacuum.

I've got a numatic George. Have to say, does a great job and the wet extraction is great for keeping the interior carpets fresh. It's big and awkward though.

I also have a small 12v thrown in the boot for when I see grit and pebbles and it's too awkward or I'm too lazy to take out George. It usually does a grand job at keeping the car tidy, and prevents grit getting ingrained in the fabrics between proper vacuuming.

As long as expectations are reasonable for a hand held you'll be happy with one. It doesn't replace a decent plug in one though.

Don't buy Dyson. It's an overpriced garbage. No vac store will repair them if they break down. Believe me, I'm a vac seller. For car, I would look at Black & Decker.

I would recommend Black & Decker BDH2000PL Pivot Vac 20V MAX

Can't seem to find the 20V anywhere but in the US. May I ask where you got it from?

I bought this lidl vacuum about 2 years back, cost 40 beans. The wet function isn't great, but for the weekly vacuum it's super. Never caused any bother, no bag to empty, the attachment gets into all the nooks, and it costs peanuts. They actually had them in stock the other week

    Here you go http://amzn.to/2mF7IyT

Looks a bit bulky to me. Is it heavy?

Not too bad, I use an extension cable and I leave it outside the car and use the flexible head inside. Extremely powerful suction.
