Hal Higdon Advanced - MP Sessions

Currently following the HH Advanced 1 Marathon Plan aiming for 3:15 at Limerick in April.

My current cruising pace (could go all day) is around 5:20/km so 3:40 marathon.

Two weeks in and sticking fairly rigidly to the prescribed sessions, but looking ahead I now see that the maximum MP session (4:40/km) is only 16km. Same for the Advanced 2 program.

My worry is that this is long way off of running 42km at this same pace.

Has anyone followed this program and managed to achieve the target pace on race day? Does the likes of P&D have longer sessions at MP?

P&D has 13/16/19/23 at MP. I can see why you are worried but you need to trust the plan, if not maybe change plan now rather than later.

Thanks. The overall structure and weekly mileage of HH seems to suit me.
I think I will lengthen a couple of the MP runs as per P&D, just for my own peace of mind. Would be happier if I can put in 20+km at race pace at some point.

Prob best to target a HM in there, would replicate the atmosphere etc

Agreed HM would be ideal, struggling to find one far enough out that fits the bill.

Have Dungarvan and Ballycotton 10's booked and they fit well enough into my schedule, will just have to do the longer MP runs on my own.
