So I've got fed up of the crappy bulbs I have in the c max.
Looking to upgrade to something that actually gives out light!
I'm looking at the Phillips xtreme +130% h7/h1.
Anyone experience with these? Or other suggestions?

I have these Philips bulbs now and I am happy with them. I used to have the Osram Nightbreaker before (still have in the old Honda) and I think they are very comparable and both are good choice.

However, they are not longest lasting bulbs (naturally) and the Nightbreaker one failed recently only a few months after installation. I hope the Philips bulbs are slightly longer lasting. They make driving night and day comparing to standard cheap bulbs though...

Is you've plastic lenses, sometimes lens just need a clean guys. Some progressively finer sandpaper and elbow grease can make a much bigger difference than new bulbs.

    YouTube will show you how.

Got osram night breakers on my Octavia. Not changed a bulb since I put them in:)

Toothpaste on the plastic to clean it works perfectly and won't scratch!

Anyone know the law on the power of bulbs for headlights/sidelights.

All I can see is they should be "incapable of dazzling a person who is on the same horizontal plane as the vehicle at a greater distance than 25 feet from the lamp and whose eye-level is not less than 3 feet and 6 inches above that plane."

    And not exceed 7 watts.

    There's no need to book

At those prices I can see why.

If it's a Megane I can understand, but charging €18 for a five minute job is ridiculous.

It's just a clip from a Fifth Gear episode where they try and change the headlights on a Megane.

:) see no probs, renaults were always renowned years back for dodgy wiring effecting rear lights.

Re the bulbs, I heard them Philips are good, but not for the price as they don't last too long. any high power (>100% light...) bulbs don't last as long as "standard" ones. I am changing mine to http://cf1.s3.souqcdn.com/unit/2015/09/30/91/55/74/9/unit_XL_9155749_3657400363_113105.jpg

I hope they last a decent amount of time!
Philips was twice the price and in the tests done in a few car mags Tungsram ones were superior to the Philips ones. :D

On your basis that >100% power bulbs don't last longer. The ones in the link cliam to be 120%.Wont they go even quicker.

Well, the Philips ones, the 130% ones, are supposed to be overpriced and short lived. The ones I got have a "decent" lifespan as the tests showed. We will see how it goes once they go in- hoping for at least 3 months of nice, bright night driving!

By the way, @honda boi, how are the Philips going?
