    Hey,

Even if it is a lot of topics "What car to get" and I read almost all of them, still a lot of confusion :)

So about me: 27years, female, have driving licence 9 years (Full EU), in few months will change it into Irish ones. Before was driving Citroen C4, Audi A4, Peugeot 407. All diesels, all 1.8-2.0 engine.

Do not have a car for about 6 months, and as missing it a lot considering to buy one. It will be first time when I will have to choice and get it on my own, so would be good if someone would advise about pre-buy check-ups as well. Do all garages doing them, do anyone knows a good place to check a car in South Dublin? Around what price those check-up things goes?

And about the car I am looking into, so budget 6-7k, would like to get at least 08-09 reg. Petrol. Manual. Something that wouldn't need a lot of maintenance, would be reliable, and wouldn't cost a fortune if break down :) (So no french cars anymore, no ford as well, ideally Japan car probably)
Looking into at the moment: Toyota Auris, Mazda 6, Volvo S40 S60.

Guys please help me out :)

    Thanks.

    Honda Civic.
Reliable and something a bit different.

I see you're looking for low maintenance.... nothing is lower maintenance than an electric. There's no engine, no oil changes, no timing belts etc. My service costs me 60 quid and includes a valet :) No petrol cost and tax is 120 euro for the year. You can get secondhand ones.
Not suitable for everyone though... It may not be for you if you're doing loads of long journeys, or don't have a parking space where you can put a charger.

Second hand Nissan Leaf. They're around since 2011...

Thanks for reply guys. An electrical car is not an option for me for sure. However, I was considering is it worth to invest 5k extra on top of my limit, put myself into a loan and get a hybrid? Or just stay within savings and get a regular petrol :))

Honda Civic looks like a good option as well. It's a bit more expensive than mazda or toyota though.

No parking space available is it?
Petrol prices have jumped again, and I'd expect volatility in the middle east in the future, judging by the random 'let's invade iraq and take their oil' stuff being thrown around by Trump. http://www.theblaze.com/news/2017/01/22/krauthammer-trumps-remarks-about-keeping-oil-after-iraq-invasion-could-be-a-war-crime/
