    2013 Jetta diesel.

I can feel engine vibrations through the pedal, particularly noticeable when changing gears- crunchy sensation too.

Is this common in diesel cars?

    Sounds like DMF.

Is there a 'rattling' sound when engine is in neutral?

No, no noticeable sounds. I've noticed that the vibration seems to happen when shifting up and not when shifting down

Are you sure its engine vibrations? Could it be the traction control kicking in?

It's always there though. When I'm moving at a constant speed, if I just rest my foot on it, the vibration is there. There's nothing to suggest that it's traction control.

Is it a mild vibration or heavy etc?
How long have you had the car?

Sorry for the delay in response. It's hard to describe. The pedal isn't shaking by itself, but when I'm pressing it at high rpms (changing up in gear) it's very obviously there. Very rapid.

Another thing I've noticed is that ththe car accelerates in 3rd gear sometimes when I'm not pressing the accelerator.

If it's there when you rest your foot on the clutch, I would suggest DMF or Release Bearing. Same symptoms on my car and changed both of them to fix it.

    Expensive?

Have you the car long? Possibly had a solid flywheel fitted by previous owner? Just a thought.

A week. Rang dealer (simi) left message, still haven't gotten back to me. If it's cheap I'd rather get it done near where I work. Car bought in mullingar, work in Dundalk.

Depending on the quality of the replacement parts it could be up near €1000 - €1500 for the clutch, dual mass flywheel and labour.

Would agree with those who say DMF. Would need to be done ASAP on a vag.
