IT contractor - umbrella company....

Having worked in IT for 15 years, I am for the first time considering the option of contracting.
I may have the opportunity of a 6 month contract coming up, and Im looking at the best option to manage that.
An umbrella company has been suggested, but having spoke to one this morning, I was agog at the price quoted. 350euro p/mth! The company was UK based. I've since rang Fenero (came up following a quick google) and been quoted 85euro p/mth (half of that back as its tax deductible) to set up as an employee under the umbrella company. The discrepency in price here is astonishing!
Looking for some general advice on the matter, and recommendations for reputable, trustworthy Irish companies offering this service.
    Thanks in advance.

Avoid Prima, they are not really helpful at all. I've heard good things about Fenero and they were really helpful when i called them up asking for more information.

I've used Fenero in the past and found them really good. Helpful and easy to deal with. I remember researching a number of different companies at the time and I think Fenero were the best value

I've used Fenero too and they were great, no qualms at all recommending them.

Accounting pro might be a good option for you - they offer a PAYE umbrella service with alot of free add-ons like independent financial advisors to meet and help you with your pensions and private health insurance.

OP, will you be going PAYE or director? If your rate is over 300 is which I assume it is, your take home will be more as director. The downside being you pay class s PRSI so no job seekers benefit.

I've been using Icon Accounting for a few years..find them excellent. They charge about 80 for PAYE and 120 for director status, both tax deductable .

They also have a very handy calculator on their site where you can enter your rate and number of days and see the differences between both options.
