Hotmail Account Hacked

A friends hotmail account was hacked and access can't be got to the account now. She carried out all her business through the account, flight details and confirmations, holiday booking details, accommodation confirmations, etc. all inaccessible atm. What steps should she now take to regain access to her mails?
