New car suggestion?

What car would you suggest for a new car? I think I'd get a better answer from the motors community on here. If I asked some of my acquaintances, I'd probably be told to go for dayzul and be looked at like I have three heads and five arms if I even thought about looking at a petrol.

What is the favourite car here among the motors community?

    When I say "new" I don't necessarily mean a new 171 plate.

Not asking people to do all the leg work for me :P The important specs to me are easy to change headlights, a proper spare wheel, but younger than 2010. Reasons are I'd like to be guaranteed a km/h speedo and not to be hammered by insurance companies for driving an "old" car. My current one is 2008.

Kmph speedo came in in late 04 and uk imports will be mph in most cases.

What car do you have now?

    Peugeot 207 1.4 L Diesel manual (don't shoot) :D

Petrol is a must too and auto would be nice but not mandatory. Just wondering is there a certain car that fares well and that would be recommended among the posters here.

I'd go for a second hand, as long as it has a service history.

There are probably roughly zero original irish cars available in saloon with a 1.6 engine. Most petrol engines cars Post 2010 are hatchbacks and with smaller 1.4 engines such as Auris Focus Golf etc

Edit: just had a look and it looks like there is a single option out there for you....a Nissan Tiida!

    What's your budget?

Maybe a Civic 1.8 auto saloon would fit the bill? Prius might be another good option for you

I was looking on carzone for a saloon car 1.6 L and over.

The search returned loads of diesels and hardly any manuals.

    Would you go another Peugeot?

Easy to change headlights - Volvo

As someone who changes many headlight bulbs, I can assure you they are the easiest, a pleasure in fact.
They'll probably fit the rest of the bill too if I bothered to think about it. :pac:
